lines that run diagonally in a space drawing the eye across and up the art work creating a combination of height and width.

harmony through progression

the artist clever use repetition colour at the ground, building. trees and sky in the photo to showing progression. it can use me same feeling at every part at the picture.

harmony through variety

use many different elements in the picture creating a cohesive look. such as we can easy find cohesive colour palette, repetition pattern, combination line in the picture

Bedroom

Vincent van Gogh - Starry Night
This is an interesting example of an analogous  colour scheme.

I will call it complex drawing because we can easy to find many design elements in this image.

line

1.combinations line: we can see many different types of marks and lines in this image.
vertical line and horizontal line from the house.
     curved line from the sky.

Reason: I think the artist want to use those lines to show audience a very interesting space.

texture

2.visual: the look of the line want me want to go and touch it.

3.tactile: tactile which has a distinct feeling when you touch it. We can image the feeling when we touch the oil painting.

Reason: the artist appropriate use visual and tactile makes audience find many details in the drawing. Also it can make us feel the image is a true space.

rhythm

4.rhythm design: cohesive patterns used throughout space

5. rhythm pattern: it can through the repetition of a design feature.

I think the repetition of a design feature is the marks, because we can see the artist use the similar mark when he is create the art work. At the same time, from the rhythm pattern and rhythm design we can read the emotion and feeling when artist drawing the picture which is confusion.

harmony

6.harmony repetition: we can easy to find the repeat design, colour and mark from the image

7.harmony variety: artist use many different colours (from light yellow to dark blue)

8.harmony texture: artist use same texture in different colour.

Reason:  if there are many elements in one picture some time will makes audience feel confuse, but the artist clever use those can make the space very harmonious and fun.
